A neighborhood dedicated to the clothing trade
The name "Bras" comes from the owner of the land named José Brás.
Became in the early twentieth century a reference to the neighborhood Italian community (celebration of the feasts of Our Lady of Casaluce and San Vito), and the Greek community (with the Greek Orthodox Church), Armenian community, with a strong presence in industries (especially near the railroads) and timber (region Gasometer Street).
This region currently is primarily geared to clothing industry and trade with strong emphasis on jeans wholesale and dtores dedicated to fashion for Children and Youth, also highlighting the large concentration of stores specializing in selling products and layettes for babies and pregnant women. Nowadays it has a strong presence of Korean and Bolivian communities.
