One of the great exponents of São Paulo cultural scene, the Teatro Municipal (Theatro Municipal spelling is still used in some publications) that had its architectural lines inspired by the Paris Opera House was opened in 1911 for the leisure of the elite.
Today it does not distinguish among its visitors. In fact, currently the intention is precisely to make everyone aware of its architecture and its history.
The Theatre organizes guided tours for its interior. The tour lasts about an hour and goes through five environments: lobby, grand staircase, concert hall, hall of cabins and noble sation.
The building has undergone numerous renovations and restorations during its more than one hundred years. Several structural differences and curiosities are revealed in these tours.
